Feasibility of condition monitoring for a compressor fleet
A structured feasibility study with a short measurement campaign told the client which compressors justified monitoring, which sensors to use and what the programme would cost, before any vendor was engaged.

The challenge
Vendors proposed fleet-wide monitoring packages with very different prices and promises. The client lacked an independent view of what was technically justified.
What we did
Failure history, criticality and maintenance cost were reviewed per machine to rank where monitoring could change decisions.
A two-week measurement campaign on six representative compressors established which fault modes were observable in vibration, current and temperature, and at what sampling rate.
A roadmap set out a phased programme, a specification for the sensing and acquisition, evaluation criteria for vendors and a business case per phase.
The outcome
Monitoring was justified on 14 of 31 machines. The specification was used to run a competitive procurement, and the first phase has since been installed.
A representative engagement. The figures are indicative of typical outcomes for this kind of work and are not drawn from a named client.
